Toni Morrison is known for her epic power, unerring ear for dialogue, and her poetically-charged and richly-expressive depictions of Black America (NobelPrize). Morrison began her career as a novelist in 1970. The first book she published is titled The Bluest Eye. Morrison attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., then continued studies at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where she received her Masters. Before she became an author, Morrison was an English instructor at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Also, she taught in the English department at Howard. She explores this with cold-blooded detail and vivid vocabulary. Morrison writes with intent to show the readers what issues African-Americans are facing, rather than telling them. Many enjoy this style of writing, they even praise her for it. “Toni Morrison is an important novelist who continues to develop her talent. Part of her appeal, of course, lies in her extraordinary ability to create beautiful language and striking characters. However, Morrison's most important gift, the one which gives her a major author's universality, is the insight with which she writes of problems all humans face.... Beloved explores characters who are free from slavery, yet still struggle with their identity. Morrison grew up in ohio, which might be why most of her books are set there. Sadly, Sethe has another daughter that she killed. That daughters name is Beloved. Sethe killed Beloved because she wanted her to be away from slave catchers. They believe their home, 124 Bluestone, is haunted by the ghost of Beloved. One day, Paul D a former slave at Sweet Home, showed up at Sethe's doorstep. Paul D remembers everything from Sethe's past, this made Sethe feel safe to open up. Well they ended up becoming a couple. This didn’t make the ghost to happy. Paul D was thrown out of the house by a supernatural force. At the end of the book, Beloved is gone and Paul D comes back. Sethe, Denver, and Paul D are all good. When Paul D comes back, he makes up with Sethe. Denver is happy living out in the
