As a result of her comprehensive definition on white privilege and endorsement to her academic background, McIntosh begins to persuade her audience that unearned white privilege does exist. The first couple of paragraphs of her essay she gives to define white privilege, so it is recognizable that this definition is necessary for her essay and her argument.
This week we were assigned to read to different articles. The first article was written by Peggy McIntosh titled, “White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack”. Throughout the article, Peggy showed the readers what it means to have white privilege. She showed the readers 50 different types of “advantages” that whites get over other races, such as African Americans. This is the biggest theme throughout her entire piece.
The “triangular trade in human flesh” that Yaeger writes about refers to The Middle Passage. The Middle Passage is a voyage that millions of West Africans took to the New World. The commodities described in this quote are commodities that are touched by forced labor from the slaves. Many products that are tainted by slavery are very labor intensive and/or delicate, but as more and more slaves arrive, the less the owners care to keep their current slaves content with their living and working conditions. These slaves transform raw materials that they pick out in fields into commodities for their white owners.
Privilege is unequal. This is a concept that surfaces at every turn when reading through the novel Tangerine. It is what propels the story. Tangerine is a southern gothic novel by Edward Bloor, set in Tangerine county Florida.
“Behind every success, large or small, there is a story, and it isn't always told by sex or skin color” (page 2, par. 15), Fortgang, T (2014). Some people base their success on their racial background. “Checking My Privilege” by Tal Fotrtgang was written in an effort to voice his opinion on this matter. In his essay, Tal Fortgang says, “I actually went and checked the origins of my privileged existence, to empathize with those whose underdog stories I can’t possibly comprehend. I have unearthed some examples of the privilege with which my family was blessed, and now I think I better understand those who assure me that skin color allowed my family and I to flourish today”
The White Advantage “Explaining White Privilege” by Tim Wise was more or less a defense of a more detailed argument on the subject of white advantages based solely on race. Tim Wise did provide several examples from several studies that did explain his theory as it was intended and how it was received. Apparently the original article was not very receptive from the audience when it was published: hence the reason for this short excerpt. The author was trying very hard, not only to defend his article on white privileges, but to provide reasons why the majority of the United States should consider his suggestion as a valid and accurate argument. Though “Explaining White Privilege” was a defense of Tim Wise’s original article, which was not included, he also managed to provide one example using disability people as evidence to support his argument.
In chapter one, "Privilege, Oppression, and Difference, Allan Johnson begins his argument that "difference is not the problem"( Johnson, pg 5 ). The author goes on to explain that difference by itself is not the problem, rather difference in conjunction with our ideas that cause fear. That being said, discrimination was a bigger problem in the past and it still is today. We starts with talking about Rodney King and racism he had received from police officers in Los Angeles. Johnson continues on with the idea that people are judged not for who they are or the things they have accomplished, but how they are perceived by others.
I sometimes get irritated when people don’t agree on the same ideas that I have or when the other person says something that I don’t agree with. The objective of this chapter made me comprehend that based on an individual’s experiences and viewpoints impacts the person’s behavior. Some experience may deal with the oppressions and privileges a person has, the article “Explaining White Privilege to a Broke White Person…” made me realize that I am more privilege than what I thought. The author didn’t think she was privilege until she read a book she got recommended and from her article she summarizes

Have you ever read an article that made you so mad you just had to go blow off some steam? Yeah me too, I was asked to read two articles about privilege, and I was surprised to find myself getting irritated the farther I read. I know what you’re going to say, “Well it’s because you agreed with what was being said” or “Well that’s a natural reaction to this controversy.” But honestly it wasn’t anything like that.

The society has changed the mindset of the upper class people about machines, its efficiency and organization. So many lower class people are employed due to this revolution. Without any question technology has developed fast after the last two world wars.
A hero is defined as a person who is admired for their achievements and admirable qualities, or someone who shows courage. In S.E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders, there are many characters that can be considered heroes. Johnny Cade and Dallas Winston demonstrate heroic actions throughout the novel, however they have not escaped the cycle of violence, crime and their social status. In contrast to this, Ponyboy is a considerable hero whose reputation is clean and his actions remain without ill intention, despite coming from the same gang and having the same social status as the other boys. Johnny, Dallas and Ponyboy all carry heroic traits throughout the novel, however it is Ponyboy's actions that demonstrate he is the greatest hero.
An area of contention in America with regards to racial relationships is the idea of white privilege. The notion that certain people within a society have unwritten societal benefits due to the color of their skin seems unbelievable to some. I want to figure out exactly what white privilege is and if this privilege is universally applicable to all whites in America. I want to know why so many White Americans deny this idea. Can it be explained, or reasoned in a way that makes sense to even the most ardent critics?

Ben Haggerty, also known as Macklemore a white rapper from Seattle The song mainly focuses on Macklemore’s perspective and how artist in the music industry appropriate Black Culture and do not acknowledge what is going on in the nation through representation.
Robert Nozick was a pupil of Rawls and rejected his teacher’s insistence on the need for governmental intervention in order to achieve a redistribution of wealth. In his book, Anarchy, State and Utopia, he said that a just society is the one based on individualism. The natural rights of the individual are to be considered inviolable, and each person may enjoy those rights subject only to certain moral side restraints concerning the rights of others. He proposes a “minimal State” whose functions are limited to the “night-watchman” protection against force, theft, and fraud, the enforcement of contracts, and a few other essentials. In a word, it is a state dedicated only to be the protection of property rights and the enforcement of fair exchanges.
