Mike has a torn cartilage in his shoulder due to excessive use while playing tennis so that means cartilage take longer time to heal because it has no blood supply or called avascular because it has no blood supply. It is also different with other different tissues such as skin, when it gets damage it can be recovered or healed because it received nutrition from foods. So Mike have not chance to recover is cartilage but it will be taking a longer time due to his cartilage shoulder because it has poor nutrition to receive from a body or cartilage can recover if they are children.
