Totalitarianism is a form of government in which the national government takes control of all aspects of both the public and private life. It’s the purpose of getting rid of the battle between government and society with the keys traits of totalitarianism. Even though there were many ways that joseph stalin was a totalitarian dictator, the key traits of totalitarianism were ways for joseph stalin to be a totalitarian dictator, but firstly he used methods of enforcement to make people follow under their rules, then he used propaganda to promote himself as a good leader, and lastly he controlled all aspects of society. The first part of the key traits for Stalin would be how Joseph Stalin used methods of enforcement to make people follow under their rule. In a quote from the document packet, “People lived in fear of their co-workers, those above them, those beneath them, and those on the same level. They feared oversights or mistakes on the job, but even more, they feared being too successful, standing out” (document k). In another quote from the document packet, “it is the duty of each school child to acquire knowledge persistently as so to become an educated and cultured citizen and to be the greatest possible service to his country” (document N). Joseph Stalin used the key traits of state control society over his own people, meaning he controlled what they did, what they learn and anything else. This mean’t that he controlled what they learned about and changed to what he thought helped his country and himself. In conclusion, Stalin used the state control of society to control what the society of people back then learned
