“They knew that life nowadays was harsh and bare, that they were often hungry and often cold, and that they were usually working when they were not asleep.” (Orwell 113). In George Orwell’s Animal Farm, the Russian Revolution is represented by a group of animals whose only hope was living among their own kind with equal respect among everyone. This hope of happy days became a thing of the past when Napoleon rose to rule in a cruel Authoritarian way. Unfortunately, for the animals their pig rulers turned out to be just as bad if not worse than that of the humans. George Orwell portrays Joseph Stalin as Napoleon the pig in the book Animal Farm as a ruthless tyrant that manipulates the public with a false hope in order to have things in his favor.
The main cause of the Russian Revolution was due to the failing leadership under an autocracy.
