In both stories women deal with traditional gender stereotypes that make them insecure and unwanted. For instance, in Part A of “Happy Endings” a couple have a “stimulating and challenging sex life” and “worthwhile friends,” they go on “fun vacations,” and “they both have hobbies which they find stimulating and challenging”. However, it seems they just follow traditional gender roles of “husband” and “wife” and don’t really experience “colorful” life since each adjective is empty, with little information given about this couple.
