Traffic congestion is a nightmare. Congestion is a situation on road where it slows down operation, increase vehicular cost and cause longer trips. It is a common problem for many cities and countries. And it is a severe problem in the Philippines. According to Numbeo, the Philippines rank fourth in Asia and ninth in the world in terms of worst traffic situation. It is also stated that it averages 45.50 minutes time travel before you reach your destination (Diola, 2015). Numbeo is the largest database when it comes to the cost of living, traffic, crime and pollution of a certain city or country. Traffic congestion is consequently happening that the economy has been affected. The traffic situation we are experiencing right now does not only affect its citizen and the environment but it is also a menace to our economy. Congestion creates external costs like extra travelling time, increased business costs, pollution, and probability of accidents.
Congestion greatly wastes resources specifically non-renewable resources such as fuel. It increases fuel consumption because the longer you stay on the road the more resources you consume. As your bill goes high there is a possibility that your profit may be lessen. They work for extended hours just to meet their boundary.
