They told him that he would first become thane of cawdor and then he would become the king of poland. At first macbeth was happy because he became thane of cawdor formerly he was the thane of glamis but then he had thoughts of killing king duncan who was the current king of poland so he could become the king of poland
At the beginning of the play, he is hailed as the brave warrior who fought with his friend Banquo and, due to his act of bravery, was given the title “thane of Cawdor!” (1.2.65-67). However, it does not take him long to show his most noticeable character trait, ambition, which leads him to murder King Duncan. His insatiable desire for power and a fierce determination to be king drives Macbeth to continue to deceptively plot against his friend and commit terrible acts of violence and betrayal. It causes him to spiral out of control quickly, and he goes from a reluctant murderer to a sinister and brutal killer.
Even though it is not clear how the thane betrayed Scotland, the king still finds out and plans to have him executed for his treason. Macbeth only becomes Thane of Cawdor, because of a traitor, but he himself later becomes a traitor. In the beginning it was easy for Macbeth to fight for his king and to honor the name of the man who ruled his land, but once he finds out his future, his entire mindset changes. Macbeth fights and wins a battle in favor for Scotland and king Duncan. A few hours after the battle, the Weird Sisters tell Macbeth what his future looks like. He becomes obsessed with the idea of becoming king and one can sense his thirst for power.
The Thane of King Duncan, Macbeth hears a prophecy that he himself will become king later on in the future after King Duncan. This then leads to Macbeth being overcome by greed. Since Macbeth greeds to be king so bad, he murders King Duncan and takes his place of the throne. Macbeth starts to live with so much guilt and fear that he commits even more murders to have his power safe. Macbeth is so confident in the prophecies that his life comes to a downfall and he gets killed by the people he did wrong.

Macbeth’s main character, Macbeth, shows off a wide range of complex character traits. These traits range from being very relatable to not being relatable at all. However, there are three of Macbeth’s character traits that almost everyone should be able to relate to.
After a battle with rebel forces lead by Macdonwald in Act 1, Macbeth and Banquo were on their way to meet Duncan to give him a full report of the battle. However, as they walked, they came upon the witches who greeted only Macbeth until Banquo bade them speak to him. They hailed Macbeth the Thane of Glamis, which he was, Thane of Cawdor, which he did not yet know, and hailed him to be the future King. After the visit from the witches, Ross and Angus ran up to them and hailed him Thane of Cawdor, a title that Duncan gifted him for his part in winning the battle. Once the witches’ prophecy began to come true, Macbeth was smitten by the idea of being King, though he didn’t really want to kill Duncan and his sons for it.
When a person desires something which dangles in front of them, the person will stop at nothing to gain that desired object. People; naturally selfish, ignore societal standards of right and wrong when trying to achieve a goal and obtain a desired object. In the Elizabethan play The Tragedy of Macbeth, William Shakespeare expresses through character behavior when a desirable object tempts someone, they become blind to the consequences of their actions. People stop paying attention to rules and regulations when it comes to pursuing a personal desire. Once the character Macbeth hears the words “that shalt be king” after hearing the confirmed statement “All hail, Macbeth!
Macbeth and Banquo then meet three witches who tell them that Macbeth is to be named Thane of Cawdor and eventually king of Scotland. As the story would have it, he is named Thane of Cawdor. Now here is where the evil comes into play. Macbeth invites King Duncan of Scotland to his castle to visit, and when he arrives, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth plot to kill the king while he is sleeping. Macbeth is hesitant about the whole scheme, but his wife pressures him and he caves in.
Throughout literature, we see human characteristics in our characters. Characteristics such as punishment, downfall, middling character, free choice, and nobility. In this play called Macbeth we see all these characteristics fall into place throughout the good and bad choices acted on by our main character Macbeth. The play demonstrates how power will make or break character and lead to his/her own destruction by possessing a few of these characteristics. Macbeth demonstrates both literal and figurative nobility as the plot beings to grow throughout the play.
The hero Macbeth from shakespeare’s “macbeth” is considered a tragic hero. The reason that he is one is he has the six characteristic that a tragic hero has. One, nobel structure, two a tragic flaw, three free choice, when the punishment exceeds the crime, increased awareness, and produces catharsis. The first characteristic of a tragic hero is Noble stature.
