The students that make up our school districts come from varying backgrounds. Many of these upbringings do not include or adhere to a traditional Christian Christmas celebration. Therefore, there are two major beliefs in this case which are in direct conflict with each other. These views are people who believe Christmas is a Christian celebration and those who do not. The first side of the ethical issue in this case deals with individuals who identify with or accept Christian values.
Holidays celebrate an area’s culture and/or the day(s) it commemorates with various festivities and traditions. In Theodore Geisel’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas, the light-hearted denizens of Who-Ville are preparing to celebrate Christmas. For the Whos, it is a time of fun and merryness, in which they sing and play with one another. This is a time of camaraderie and fellowship between everyone in the town. Apart from this is the antagonist, the Grinch, who dreads the holiday along with the singing, feasting, and other festive activities that the holiday inspires.

The Civic of Christmas When most people think of Christmastime, they picture Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Nutcracker, and snow-covered hills perfect for sledding. At face value, these age-old holiday observances are just ways of celebrating the holiday season, or traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. However, upon further examination, aspects of the holiday season have had deep-rooted impacts on our society. During the turn-of-the-twentieth-century Progressive Era, practiced rhetoricians took strategic advantage of the opportunity to connect the emotional appeals of the holiday season with the widespread social activism that unfurled across the nation. The landmark
Just as Ebenezer Scrooge’s personality changes throughout A Christmas Carol, so too does his viewpoint on the true meaning of Christmas. Scrooge goes through a pretty traumatizing experience when the spirits show him many new revelations, so he is very happy to find himself alive and well on Christmas day by saying, “I will live in the past, the present, and the future!...the spirits of all three shall strive within me” (109). What Scrooge means by this is that he will always remember what the spirits have taught him and that he will make sure to create a positive outcome based on these events. Scrooge has definitely changed for the better and is going to make sure everyone understands this.
How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa Claus? Or, are you one of the few adults who still believe in him? Well if you believe in the magic of Santa Claus, The Naughty List will remind why you’re never too old to believe in him. The Naughty List, which is based on the short story, “The Siqquism Who Stole Christmas” by Brian Keene, tells the story of two mobsters who are hiding out in an isolated cabin on Christmas Eve.
The Children's Crusade Stephen of Cloyes was a child of deep faith who wanted the Holy Land to be governed by Christian people. With no way of bringing people together to march along with each other. In the Thirteenth century a children's movement took place with a goal of going to the Holy Land and establishing Christianity. This was known as the children's crusade. Stephen of Cloyes began to travel around Europe gathering teens to march to the Holy Land..
In honor of the holidays on their way, I have chosen to read the article titled, “Don’t tell children Father Christmas is real because lying to children could damage them, warn experts.” Throughout this article, John von Radowitz elaborates on all the reasons why children should not be fooled into thinking that Santa Claus is going to deliver them their presents on the night of Christmas Eve. At a young age, children are fed these lies, and as a result can be led to believe that they cannot trust their parents ever again. Radowitz also points out a belief of Professor Boyle’s that states “…they’ve been consistently lied to for years, and this might make them wonder what other lies they’ve been told.” It may be so that people long for those
Christian Persecution in the United States of America According to Dr. Carl S. Parnell’s article, “Growing Christian Persecution in America: Believe It or Not,” thousands of Christians all over the world have died for their beliefs in twentieth century; however, this anti-Christian ideology has quickly spread to the United States over the last five decades. Parnell goes on to say that the “seeds of persecution” present in the United States affect every part of American culture, and that Americans are failing to realize “religious freedom in America today pertains to every religion except Christianity.” The Reverend Billy Graham states in his “Prayer Letter to America,” that "Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone—except

Believe it or not, religion, which is “the service and worship of God or the supernatural” (Webster) is far more common than the average Joe notices on the surface. A large amount of people wouldn’t see religious aspects in their everyday life except for those they practice and even then, most are limited to a single day if even that. With the proper lens it is possible to gaze deeper into everyday occurrences and see factors such as subliminal meanings and blatant themes that have religious values to accompanying them. This theme of religion in popular culture can be seen popular aspects of everyday life. Many religious institutions see media within popular culture as an avenue to communicate to the mass their message and/or vision.
Hamlet, a play written by William Shakespeare seems to site the ancient theory of the seven deadly sins, many times. The seven deadly sins are aspects of human character that are believed to ultimately lead to the destruction of the human race. In Hamlet, wrath is the sin most used within the most characters. One of the most obvious example is the uncle of Hamlet, Claudius. Claudius is a prime example of wrath, performing actions such as killing his brother, and ultimately causing the death of almost everyone he held closest.
Topic: Choose the one activity you listed as most important in question #1 and tell us why it is significant. Christmas is the time everyone should give God worship and thanks for allowing his son Jesus Christ to be born. It’s the day everyone should be with their family, friends, and loved ones underneath the fireplace watching and singing Christmas Carols. This day is for everyone, whether you believe in Jesus Christ or any other religious aspects. As for myself being a Christian and believing in God, I felt it was my mission to give back to the community and do more for the less fortunate.
Religious symbols being displayed in schools has caused a significant amount of controversy and debate, particularly in what could be considered a more liberal and free thinking global society. The state of societies and nations today seem to follow a secular position of government with there being no influence of religion on the operations of government. However, a more common scenario is that of a clear distinction between religion and state. Whilst the question posited asks us to determine whether or not school should display religious symbols in the classroom, the more significant question should be to what extent is there a separation of state and religion, and can it be justifiable in a supposed secular state for religious symbols to
