Transgender: someone whose gender identity or gender expression does not correspond with their sex assigned at birth. A human's right, identity, and opportunity. The real question is; should transgender female athletes be allowed to compete? To answer this question we must look at the effect that transgender women hold on biological women. While the physical advantage of biological men over women makes an unfair playing field, transgender female athletes should be allowed to compete in women's sports because they are humans who deserve the same respect as everyone else, they already experience enough harassment, exclusion, and oppression, and sports are a product of behavior, rules, identity, and non-discrimination. No trans woman has won a medal of any kind in the Olympics since 2003. People train so hard for medals, they wouldn’t let someone come in and steal it from them. Before you can even qualify for the Olympics as an athlete who is transgender, you have to go through sex reassignment surgery and show legal recognition of your gender. This shows that there is an equal playing field in these sports. They argue this because women have worked very hard to get where they are right now in the world to have trans people come in and take away everything they have worked for. However, this isn’t correct because before you even qualify for sports as an athlete who is transgender, you have to go through sex reassignment surgery. Others also believe that men have greater muscle mass, larger skeletal frame, more bone density, and higher testosterone levels which boosts athletic performance. Yes, this is true, but that is why transgender women or biological men have to lower their testosterone levels and take pills and medicines which evens out the playing field of these athletes. Many sports have shown that women can compete against men without them taking anything, and the women in many cases still win. Putting men and women against each other wasn’t very common when women were allowed to hold licenses for them to fight professionally.
