In the novel Night, Elizer Wilson experiences traumatic events during the Holocaust, and constantly describes him, his father, and the other Jews as objects multiple times in the book. From these camps, Jewish people weren’t as human, giving the Jews the belief that they were nothing more than “things.” Thanks to this, the Jews believed that they were no more than animals, or objects thanks to: cattle cars, identities stripped away, and forced migrations between camps. The cattle cars were used to transport the Jews from camp to camp during the Holocaust. From then on, I had no other name” - Page 42. The Jewish people were forced to be given anything of value to authorities, names were completely removed, and only known as numbers. Jews during the Holocaust were removed from any identity given to them prior to the Germans taking over Elizer’s community. Death Marches were essentially forced migrations from one camp, to cattle cars, which meant Jews were forced to run for hours on end to reach the cattle cars, which left a lot of the Jews
