“War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.” The previous quote was stated by General William T. Sherman during the civil war. Sherman’s quote was the beginning of a new idea; an idea known as ‘total war.’ This idea says that the more harsh and severe war is the sooner it will end because it will force people to chose between a war they may not win, and their loved ones they may lose. Recently, the President of the United States of America, the Honorable President Donald Trump, has begun to use this tactic in the ongoing war against cruelty and chaos in Syria. Many people were shocked with the immediate and drastic actions President Trump has taken against Syria. Many people believe this action taken by Trump was unjustified, uncalled for, rash, and a terrible move on the behalf of the United States government, but most of these people do not know the real facts. This belief is unfounded by the fact that later that very week, President Trump moved forces and shifted stations in what was obviously a larger plan than he is letting on. It is believed that just because the President has not revealed his wider plan, we should not automatically believe his actions are unplanned. In conclusion, the population should not fear because of this step forward that President Trump has taken, instead they should be happy and relieved that because of his forward actions the war in Syria is most likely going to start coming to a close.
