Academic Competencies
Students will analyze a literary text to determine how a theme is developed over the course of the work.
I think that I deserve a 4 for this competency because I feel that I did well on this and I think that I was able to find the overall theme for Tuesday’s With Morrie. To improve this section, I could have found more categories that fit as the theme.
Students will chose strong and appropriate textual evidence to support their conclusions.
I believe that for this competency I deserve a 3.8 because sometimes I can’t differentiate between strong and weak supporting evidence but I can explain how strong evidence supports my conclusions. I can also easily annotate a text to get strong and appropriate evidence.

I think I did a good job of ending and beginning my writing in a variety of ways.

I believe that I was able to use a variety of prewriting strategies in order to develop ideas for my writing. I think that I deserve a 4 on this category because I did all of the sheets that we needed for prewriting strategies, put my ideas in logical order, and use feedback in order to improve my writing.
Students will write arguments to support claims in an analysis of complex topics and texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence.
I think that I deserve a 4 because I am able to develop original thesis statements that provide organizational categories. I know which facts are relevant to support my ideas. I can correctly use MLA format. I can support my ideas with facts and evidence.
