Your Inner Fish - Book Report The book “Your Inner Fish” written by Neil Shubin takes us through his search and knowledge of fossils as a paleontologist. The main idea is well, finding your inner fish or in scientific terms tracing back the evolution from fish to land living animals such as mammals. Neil shares his experience looking for important fossils that reveal our evolution into humans.
Blackfish, a documentary by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, a historically observed impact of the captivity of killer whales. This Documentary focuses on the orca Tilikum, who was captured off the coast of Iceland. On February 21, 1991, Sealand trainer Keltie Byrne fell into the pool with Tilikum. She was pulled to the bottom by Tilikum, tossed around, and drowned. It took Sealand employees two hours to recover her.
The general argument made by author Kelly Wallace in her work, “After Sea World, a “Blackfish effect” on circuses and zoos?”, is that places with animals in captivity are under fire. More specially, Wallace writes, “the public has completely changed its opinion on exploiting and killing animals for entertainment.” (Wallace para 3). In this passage, Wallace is suggesting that people now believe that animals should be protected, cared for, and healthy not overworked or abused. Animals are not supposed to be in small cages for people to look at.

Shark fins are harvested to feed the growing demand for shark fin soup that is an Asian delicacy food. When the sharks are finned they are usually thrown back into the water and left to drown slowly.
Hannah Ton Mrs. Braun Honors American Literature 1 November 2015 SeaWorld Orca Breeding Should Not Be Continued When Dr. Heather Rally, a veterinarian who specializes with marine mammals, visited SeaWorld, she witnessed an orca with a severely collapsed fin and asked an “educational” guide why its fin was bent. The guide replied that it was a genetic trait just like curly or straight hair. However, Rally knows the truth, scientific evidence suggests that the high rate of dorsal fin collapse in captive orcas is due to conditions of captivity. These include spending an abnormally long time at the surface in direct sunlight and continuously swimming in tight circles.

Some flush them in a hurry because they no longer want to take care of them, others commit them to a porcelain vortex because they believe their beloved fish has passed, and the Canadian Government is issuing a warning now to citizens of Canada to stop flushing their fish. Just a few goldfish with the potential to disrupt an entire ecosystem Goldfish are entering the ecosystem the way that a lot of invasive species end up in an environment they don’t belong, Humans are putting them there. Human interference is one of the leading causes of the beginning of over population of invading alien species. In this case many of the fish are going down drains, and ending up in Canada’s lakes and rivers.
Introduction: The article "How Kitty is Killing the Dolphins" by Christopher Solomon discusses how pathogens from land are travelling into the oceans and affecting marine environment such as, otters, dolphins, and orca whales. Solomon mentions how human and animal feces are one of the ways causing marine wildlife to fall ill of viruses and diseases. The article explains many pathogens and how they are harming the animals and also ways to prevent the furthering of the pathogens.
Response to Big Fish I recently attended a performance of the musical Big Fish at the Hale Centre Theatre in West Valley City, Utah. Big Fish was originally released as a novel by Daniel Wallace in 1998, then made into a motion picture by Tim Burton in 2003, and finally adapted as a Broadway musical by Susan Stroman in 2013. While there are minor differences in every version, the general theme remains similar in all.
I think that SeaWorld is an amazing facility. I love the fact that they rescue sea creatures from their inevitable death. I love the fact that children love to come here. I love the fact that this place causes children to subconsciously learn something. I love to bring my kids here on the weekend to watch the shows that the trainers put on with the orcas.
There are many forms of “acceptance” but what does it actually stand for? Acceptance is fund in many different form and displayed in different ways; for instance acceptance is shown in three different ways between the stories “what do you wish of this goldfish”, “Texas V. Johnson” and “American flag stands for tolerance”. Furthermore, the story “what do you wish of this gold fish” displays acceptance as a positive thing, But it shows this through the eyes of a sad man whos name is Sergi. In the beginning it shows the happier for of acceptance;
“The squid and the whale” presents the story of life of a nuclear family at war. It is quite an insightful inspection not only of separation of two parents who are at odds with one another, but also its effects on the children. When they setup a schedule for spending time with their children, the two boys are caught up in the emotional upheavals of the split, swinging from parent to parent for a joint custody. The boys soon take sides. The elder one chooses to be with his father while the younger one sides with his mother.
Imagine surviving a fatal experience only to be punished and blamed for a death you could do nothing about. Now, imagine losing a girlfriend and almost losing a sister and having to live with the grief with no one to share your pain. These are the two situations Sage and Maddy find themselves in after Isabel’s death (Sage’s girlfriend) in “The Isabel Fish” by Julie Orringer. Isabel died in a car crash with Maddy in the passenger seat, and she has felt blamed by everyone, including her brother and Isabel’s friends. Because of Isabel’s death, Maddy 's relationship with her brother became a series of punishments, however, after Sage feels guilty for killing Maddy 's fish, they finally opened up to each other and their relationship strengthens.
In the story, “What, of This Goldfish, would You Wish?” is about a man, Sergei Goralick, and his magical goldfish that granted him three wishes. Based on Sergei’s own speech, thoughts, and actions, readers can infer that deep down he is depressed and lonely. Sergei kept himself distant from everyone and was not very fond of strangers knocking on his door. One day a boy, Yonatan, showed up at Sergei’s front steps and insisted on asking questions for a movie he was filming, but Sergei was not appealed. As Yonatan still tried to question he was intrigued by Sergei’s magical goldfish, Sergei became overprotective and killed the boy.
