The Turning Point in World History Disputes over the major turning points during 1917 have been controversial throughout centuries. The twentieth century can be characterized as a time of crises regarding World War I and the Russian Revolution. Wars began for several reasons, but the outcome of them determines how the countries will operate for the years following. World War I was a fight over militarism, nationalism, and suppresses disputes as a result of World War I, Russia was challenged to change the tsarist government. 1917 was an extremely critical year for the world, which changed history for years to come. The one that stands out to me the most is the rational decision made by Woodrow Wilson to enter the war. When the United States entered the war the tables had finally turned to benefit the Allied Powers. Before that time both the Allied and Central Powers were balanced and looking for new Allies to support them in winning the war. The Tables were finally turned favoring the Allied Powers including the British Empire, France, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Belgium, and the United States of America, while the Central Powers of Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire were defeated in 1918.
After the war it brought on a lot of changes all over the world, such as women gaining the right to vote, and the Treaty of Versailles was signed, which declared Germany responsible for starting the war and ordered them to pay reparations. The twentieth century can be characterized as a major turning point in history due to the decisive decisions that were made all over the world. The quick decisions sometimes led to extensive regret, while others led to a glorious ending. Many of the decisions made during the twentieth century affected society new as well as it still affecting society
