Two events during the First World War changed the tide of the war. The first event, the Russian demise at Gorlice, seemed to be favorable toward Germany. Soon, however, the U.S. declared war on Germany and aided the Allies, finishing the war with the Allies’ victory. The two events were the cause of such a prolonged fight and colossal damage. The effects of the developments changed the outcome of World War One, and the outlook of the world from that time. The Battle of Gorlice ended in 1917, as a complete Russian defeat. The soldiers lost morale, and the military lost many weapons and lives. This loss was one of the reasons to sign the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, since the Russian military never had a major success after that battle. Once the
