On August 4th 1914 Britain declared war on Germany for violating Belgian neutrality. Australia as allies soon followed and sent troops who departed to Gallipoli in October 1914 along with troops from France, New Zealand and Britain. As the war continued the troops travelled to The Western front where 5,533 soldiers were seriously injured in only 24 hours, by the end of the year the list of casualties grew 40,000. In 1917, 76,836 soldiers were added to the list of casualties in battles in Bullecourt, Messines, and the four-month operation around Ypres, recognised as the battle of Passchendaele. For Australia, World War 1 remains the most damaging conflict in terms of deaths and casualties.
There were two major events that took place that sent the United States into WWI. Before these events took place, America wanted to stay neutral with thoughts and action. On May 7, 1915, a German submarine, called U-boats, torpedoed and sank a British passenger liner Lusitania. About 1,198 lives were lost including 128 Americans. Many Americans were shocked and anger about this act and called it “mass murder and piracy”(671).

There is continually something that prompts to another. Sometimes, it can bring about an enormous outbreak. At the turn of the twentieth century, Europe was at war. This war lasted more than four, long, gruesome years. It was also known as the “Great War”.
Although the direct cause of WW1 is seen to be the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on the 28th of June 1914, the four main factors of World War 1 were militarism, alliances, imperialism and nationalism. Great Britain had a large navy and Germany wanted to have a large navy as well. This resulted in Germany and France competing to build a larger army and between 1870 and 1914 all major powers, apart from Great Britain and United States, doubled the size of their army. Alliances within Europe were meant to promote peace and were seen as a reason to not engage in war however a single argument between two countries (Austria-Hungary and Serbia) meant that all allied nations were required to join the fight, this is exactly what happened

On July 28th, 1914 a life changing event occurred, World War 1(WW1). There have been many reasonable explanations for the cause of WW1. That really doesn’t matters except for the fact that many countries were fighting each other over the span of 4 years. There were two sides to the war.

The contributions from U.S. to the Allied Cause helped turn the course of the war.

The signing of the Armistice is considered one of the most significant events that occurred during the course of World War I. The signing of the Armistice occured when both the Allies and the Germans agreed to a ceasefire at 11am on the 11th of November.

In 1920 women could vote, people had more interest in the future, and jazz was the new music (Section 5 script). But it also negatively impacted America through the Red Scare. In 1917 Russia had the Bolshevik Revolution and the country went under the control of Communists.

The use of air power as a strategy of war was highly contingent on the development of technology and became more and more significant to wars as technology developed. WW1 is known as the first modern war because it saw the incorporation of mechanical weapons. The Central Powers and Allies both used a variety of weapons such as machine guns, chemical weapons , clothing, biplanes, artillery, tanks, grenades, and rifles. These weapons were state of the art for the early 20th century. These weapons caused casualties to skyrocket as the Allies and the Central Powers were in a stalemate.
The First World War caused millions of deaths and destruction all over Europe and around the world. When the war ended, the victors gathered to mend the results of war through a peace treaty that blamed the defeated− the Treaty of Versailles. The treaty was signed in 1919 and greatly affected the world both directly and indirectly. However, while it did attempt to fix the damage done by WW1, it added further burdens and injury to an already weak Germany that eventually led to the Second World War from their feelings of revenge and rage. This is because the Treaty of Versailles was an imperfect agreement that punished Germany too much and negatively affected both Germany and Europe in physical, political, and financial ways.
The First World War ended on November 11th, 1918 when the German government signed an armistice treaty with the Allied powers, leaving 9 million soldiers dead and 21 million wounded. This has lead World War I to be commonly known as the “war to end all wars”. There several key reasons as to why the Central Powers lost the war. Generally, it was a mixture of the Central Powers weakness and the Allied power’s strength. However, more specifically, the Central Powers had weak and unreliable Allies such as Austro - Hungary and the Ottoman Empire which both collapsed, leaving Germany isolated.
