An example, can be Europe because they wasted a lot of money on their military and they wanted to go to war because they thought it will be quick and easy but it was the exact opposite. The second MAAIN cause is alliances which means that other nations have your back if you get attacked. An example can be France so if they got attacked Britain will have their back and support them.

The final factor that influenced the start of WWI was imperialism, the act of collecting colonies for their resources. As fewer areas of the world were left to colonize, countries were competing for existing colonies, and seeking to expand their borders with neighboring nations. Historians have long questioned the absolute cause for this war, having since pinpointed it on the assassination of the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Archduke Franz Furdinand. The Austro-Hungarian government blamed the death of the archduke on Serbian secret society known as the Black Hand. At this time, there was a nationalist movement in Serbia which caused their government to become unstable. Countries began to become influenced by the assassination and the declaration of war on Serbia in 1914.

Labeled by British author H.G. Wells as “The War That Will End War” , the First World War was the first global conflict humanity had seen. Spanning from the twenty eighth of July 1914 to the eleventh of November 1918, the ‘Great War’ highlighted the devastating outcomes of intense combat and violence that could be fuelled by the egocentrism of the leaders of individual nations. The war did not arise from the misguided actions of a single country; it arose from a melting pot of tension and naivety in many countries/nations. The war arose out of a combination of factors influenced by the actions of the involved powers: Austria-Hungary, Britain, Germany, France, and the Balkan States to name a few, and therefore did not occur on account of a single
