He had a great impact on race relations in the U.S. and he made a great impact on many lives. He died in 1968. Dr. King wrote 2 famous works, “Dream” and “Birmingham” and each had a different audience and purpose. Both works utilizes the persuasive techniques of pathos in “Dream” and logos in “Birmingham.”
Mrs. Walker’s abuse of her husband is only one facet of her twisted psyche. Washington Irving’s tale, “The Devil and Tom Walker,” satirically criticizes the people of 1720s Boston for their greed through characters such as Mrs. Walker. Because her motivation is control, Mrs. Walker’s psychological state is abusive and her actions result in her death. Mrs. Walker’s violent tendencies often victimize Tom and expose her as an abusive character. Irving writes (2010), “Her voice was often heard in wordy warfare with her husband; and his face sometimes showed signs that their conflicts were not confined to words.”
The Negroes were in constant suffering under the racist claws of whites who saw them as their prey. The black community suffered physical violence that made more than just their bodies hurt, violence so painful that made their hearts ache knowing that they were attacked for no other reason than their race. But even those vicious attacks seemed minor compared to the injustice that the blacks suffered. They were guilty of wanting justice so they were sentenced to misery and were tortured. Tortures by those who thought that their color made them unworthy of respect or fair treatment.
When Bill receives a letter demanding him to get rid of Virgil ( A black expert on homicide), and the mix of blacks and whites in Wells, he becomes furious. Hypocrisy is the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform; pretense. In the book the Crucible there are many hypocrites some dishonest some just following any one to be guilty, but one of the many character is Judge Danforth he mocks Marry when he ask "How were you instructed in your life? Do you not know that God damns all liars?"(3-84), since Danforth is in power for being the judge he thinks that everyone else is ignorant and not being equal as him.
In society, people are mean. Although the great majority of people are probably selfless and kind… it seems the small minority of cruel and angry people in this world are much louder than the quiet majority. The reasons and motives of this angry group vary greatly. This topic of anger and meanness comes up in Mitch Albom’s book, Tuesdays With Morrie. In the novel, the author spends much time with a dying man named Morrie Schwartz.
On a daily basis, does one think of him or herself to be cruel or violent? Many think that mankind has a nature of being savage. People believe that we acquired the trait of viciousness and that it is inside every one of us. One person that focuses on the savagery of humans is writer William Golding. In the story “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by R.L.S three characters represent Freud’s psychoanalysis of the id, ego, and superego. Freud describes id as the devil sitting on your shoulder or the evil side. In addition, the superego is a human moral conscience. Finally, the ego is a good balance between good and evil. The characters in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde represent Freud’s psychoanalysis by each other's character have a different personality as Utterson happens to be good is he is the superego, Jekyll is the ego because he is most like a human and is both good and bad, and Hyde is like a devil and bad so he represents the Id.
