Two Examples Of Foreshadowing In Macbeth

243 Words1 Pages
What is foreshadowing? Foreshadowing is a warning or a indication of a future event. It allows us to read a part of a story then later connect it with something that a character said. Now the play that we are gonna foreshadow today is the play of Macbeth. Shakespeare uses three witches as a main sources of foreshadowing. The witches foreshadow "fair is foul and foul is fair" this predicts that some kind of evil is coming. Shakespeare is setting the tone for the play, which is almost unrelentingly dark and foreboding. They admire what is foul and despise whatever is fair. They are setting their own values, this suggests that things are not always as they seem. Another thing that the witches foreshadow is "when the battle's lost and won."
