Tybalt (35%) - I believe that Tybalt was mostly to blame because he insisted to fight Romeo which caused all the deaths (including his) and almost everything to happen. If Tybalt never searched for Romeo, wanting to fight him, then Mercutio wouldn’t have died because Mercutio wouldn’t have a reason to fight Tybalt. This means that Tybalt wouldn’t have died because Romeo wouldn’t have wanted to seek revenge for Mercutio. Capulet and Lady Capulet wouldn’t be thinking that Juliet is mourning about Tybalt’s death and Capulet wouldn’t have moved the wedding to Thursday (Wednesday later on) because Tybalt wouldn’t have died. Additionally, Juliet wouldn’t be mourning in the first place because Romeo wouldn’t have gotten banished. This means that Juliet didn’t have to drink the potion and Romeo wouldn’t have drunk the poison; Romeo and Juliet would, therefore, still be alive. When Romeo heard of the news of Juliet dead, Romeo immediately thought of killing himself. When Balthasar exits, he says that he “will lie with [Juliet] to-night” (William Shakespeare 81). This means that he was planning to kill himself next to Juliet. Romeo should have calm down first, thought about the situation rationally, and then take action. Even if Juliet is really dead, Romeo still should have lived on. What was the purpose of his death? Judging on Romeo’s personality, if he lived on, then he will probably fall in love with someone else later in his lifetime and forget about Juliet like how he forgot Rosaline when he met Juliet. The next day after he met Juliet in the Capulet’s orchard he told Friar Laurence that he has forgotten “that name and that name’s woe”, “that name” being Rosaline (William Shakespeare
