1. Type 1 diabetes beginning symptoms often include, frequent urination, increased hunger, weight loss, blurry vision, dehydration, and tiredness (1). At first I was diagnosed with the flu as the symptoms are very similar, however after a urination and blood sugar test the results came back positive for type 1 diabetes. With Type 1 diabetes the body mistakenly attacks and destroys its beta cells, which produce insulin. As a result, the pancreas slows down its production of these beta cells and eventually stops producing them all together. Insulin is a hormone needed in order for the body to break down glucose, a sugar used for energy. Without the presence of insulin in the body, sugar builds up in the blood instead of being broken down for energy, leading to harmful symptoms and long-term damaging …show more content…

Frequent Urination is a result of excess sugar in the blood for it’s the body’s second attempt to getting rid of it. As more frequent urination occurs, dehydration, weight loss, increased hunger, and tiredness coincide for the body is getting rid of an excess amount of nutrients and calories that the body needs (1).

2. Type 1 diabetes is an incurable disease, however medications are prescribed to alleviate symptoms and give the body the assistance it needs to help break down glucose. After being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes my endocrinologist decided it was best to use a pump and recommended Minimed Paradigm 722 which allows you to adjust your insulin intake throughout the day. Using a pump would allow me to maintain better control of your blood sugar instead of pen needles or injections. I was then prescribed
