Public Health Issues are universal and sadly, something human’s face on a day-to-day basis. One of the issues that has stood out the most deals with youth community regarding their personal health. The rise of type 2 diabetes has been increasing massively, not only in adults, but also in young children and teenagers of both genders. Consequently, food is not the only factor to high sugar and obesity in youth, but technology, socioeconomic status, time management are all factors that lead to type 2 diabetes (Caceres, 2017). It was common back in the 1900s that women were usually stay-at-home mothers, who prepared food for their family while the father’s worked during the day. Prior to the 1980s, Type 2 diabetes was extremely uncommon in children and adolescents” (Caceres, 2017). However, now the rise of Type 2 diabetes increases about 4 percent each year (Hamman et. al., 2014; Caceres 2017). Additionally, it is rare to see a woman that stays at home to clean and prepare meals for the family. Both parents are usually working long hours and do not have time to cook for their children. Children are exposed more to fast food restaurants that offer lower prices and quicker services, making it more convenient for them to eat while both parents are at work.

Parents need to control the amount of sugar that their children have every day. Some parents lose control of what their kids have and forget that they are not supposed to have as much sugar as an adult. There are Starbucks workers who witness parents who get frappuccinos, that contain over 50 grams of sugar, for their 8 year old’s.
