US propaganda shaped understanding of the cold war in several ways, in which Cold War was a periodic of ideologically, political, and military tension between the Soviet Union and United States and their allies spanning fifty years. The US propaganda shaped American citizens’ understanding by emphasising that American values and way of life are superior and that of the Soviet Union are inferior. This propaganda and technique adopted by the American government made Americans believe that the cold war is right and the soviet union is wrong and war is valid. The documentary is a darkly humorous documentary based on archival footage of nuclear warfare. This is largely based on government propaganda and films of training given to soldiers and this documentary is filled with alarming misinformation.
The film provides insights into US propaganda used during the Cold War, mainly about the atomic age and nuclear warfare. The clip at 6:33 in the movie indicates that the US considered the war as their responsibility, which indicates that it was necessary for the US to do the war. The messages were being delivered in a way that American citizens were being made to believe that the US is right and doing right in the cold war but the soviet union is not right. The message of the threat of hydrogen and atomic bombs was also planted in the minds of American citizens so that they support the cold war and atomic operations of the US.
