USC Personal Statement The area of practice that I am interested in is critical care, but more specifically the emergency department. My interest lies in the emergency department because of the fast-paced environment, variety of patients and illnesses, teamwork, and communication among the interprofessional care team. I believe I am a great fit for the emergency department because it plays to my strengths which are being a team player, great communication skills, flexible, remaining calm under pressure, critical thinker, dependable, and hard worker. I chose to pursue nursing and became a registered nurse because I want to be a nurse that can provide patient education, patient advocate, and build trusting relationships among both Hispanic and Latino patients within the community which will help improve their …show more content…

I feel that I can make a difference for patients of all within the community because I am a compassionate, holistic driven nurse who will provide them with health education and advocate for them which will help improve their medical compliance and health outcomes. I chose USC Verdugo Hills because I strongly resonate with the mission and values of the hospital of providing personalized, high-quality healthcare relevant to the community and delivering excellent clinical outcomes as well as superb customer service. In addition, I chose the Verdugo Hills location because of the 24-hour emergency room, which as I mentioned previously is the department and unit I am interested in. Lastly, I chose Verdugo Hills because they truly believe in providing holistic compassionate care, easy commute to the hospital, and I firmly believe it is where I will continue to grow and further develop my nursing skills and
