As an individual with a passion of stepping into the lives of others during testing times towards making life easier, I am determined to develop a fulfilling career as a nurse practitioner. Having graduated in BSN from Barry University in 2014, currently I am serving the emergency department at SMH as a registered nurse. My fervor of transforming into an impeccable nursing professional through sharpening my knowledge and skills has inspired me to continue my education. At present, I am enrolled for the Master of Science in Nursing program at the Nursing School of Barry University and getting specialized in Nurse Practitioner Acute Care. I look forward to graduating in 2020.
My passion for assisting others started with volunteering at group home while attending high school. Upon graduation, I perused my nursing degree at local community college. My most recent academic achievement was acceptance at Frontier Nursing University in their family nurse practitioner graduate program. Frontier was my first choice for continuing my education and I am very proud and honored to be part of this Frontier family. Frontier Nursing University has met and exceeded my high expectations for the program.
My Intent to Be a Nurse Practitioner Coming from a third world country where there aren’t many opportunities for work and funding for education, proceding to nursing school was a grand opportunity. The privilege to attend a government subsidized school where top students in the region compete to get into the program that allowed only 60 students per year was indeed a blessing. As clinical rotations began, what was once considered a mere opportunity evolved into a true passion for caring as I truly love and enjoy nursing and helping people.
I am interested in your New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Boston and recently obtained my MA RN license in August 2015. I choose to be an RN because I love learning about the anatomy and physiology of the human body and working with people. When I was a little girl, I would watch the Discovery Health channel instead of watching cartoons. In high school, I became interested in social justice work when I did a month long volunteer service trip to India.
I would have loved to start this personal statement by stating that nursing has always been a passion or mine that was solidified by a prolific experience in my life. However, that was not my journey, I have thought long and hard before deciding to apply to nursing school. Growing up and learning about the medical field, whether it had be my own personal experiences or media portrayals. The symbiotic relationship between nurses and doctors was always known. It was only when I fully immersed myself into the medical field did I realize differences between each role, the value of working a part of a team, and the significant changes one can make in someone’s life by conversation.

The strong Lutheran foundation at Valparaiso University that prepares students to lead and serve in the community. In addition to the church, and society offers me the opportunity to pursue a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree. The university's foundation and family-centered focus make it a great place for work-study. Although no one ever suggested that my journey to become a Registered Nurse would turn out to be a faith-based journey, I transitioned from Medical Assistant to Registered Nurse in 2017. I enrolled in an LPN program with only 12 weeks until graduation, but the school closed with no further information.
My goal while attending RCC is to start taking all of the necessary classes and programs to become a very successful registered nurse that I know I can be. I always wanted to take part in a career that not only is active, but has a big, positive impact on the community. That career I was looking for ended up being healthcare. I found this out while working at Providence Medford Medical Center as a Patient Care Technician and it makes me want to strive to do more. I would be a good addition to the nursing workforce because I am resourceful, compassionate, adaptable and detail oriented.
Nursing is my life. I have dedicated my life to pursuing this dream and it truly consumes everything I do. I want to become a nurse because caring for others touches me in a way I can hardly describe; it truly sets my soul on fire and gives meaning to everything I have done to get where I am today. My goal in life is to improve health conditions in underprivileged countries. By being a part of a program like the Nursing Academy, it would give me a better insight on how I can achieve my goal. I love the dedication and selflessness that
Participating in the Explore nursing summer program would be a huge dream come true. However, not only participating in the program but, also having a desire to obtain a variety of information and a deeper understanding over nursing. In addition, I am looking forward in being taught over several nursing skills such as clinical training and simultaneously have an idea in participating form a perspective view of a nurse. I personally expect in getting the opportunity by having a hands-on moreover in having an eye opener over how a hospital works. So, as I began to look deeper into what Michigan State would offer to me, I had realized that I could see myself as a Spartan Nurse. What drew me into the program, was the intense competition. I have always been a competitive person and I knew a spot in the program would be something that I would have to compete for. Additionally, the hands on clinical experiences had impacted my decision, as I believe hands on work would best prepare me for my future as a Nurse.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
