The United States is the richest country in the world, and with that, we also have the best healthcare system. All over the country, American doctors are working hard in order to find new cure for diseases, as well as discovering new way to make treatments more effective. Trillions of dollars are spent every year in the United States in healthcare, leading to many new advancements in the medical field. Furthermore, our healthcare system continues to improves more and more everyday.

Kaiser Permanente is a leader in our nation’s healthcare system and has the standard for promoting wellness and disease prevention in our communities. I am extremely honored to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society (NHS). Being considered to become a member of the NHS means I have accomplished one of my academic and personal goals. I have shown with my GPA that I am a student who goes above and beyond but more than just demonstrating my determination in my academics, I continue to portray this hard work in athletics, my community, and at home. I’m currently a student at San Joaquin Valley College, working towards becoming a certified medical assistant in which I have proficiency in typing skills and accomplished CPR and HIPAA certification. A small 5-year-old girl walking downstairs through the outside back door of her grandmother’s house in Mexico, sliding down each step of the staircase, set in the exterior connection between the two floors, just to be able to use the restroom on the first floor; a reminiscence that portrays commitment. Uniquely, this one experience defined my character. I’ve replayed this moment in my head many times through difficult times. I’ve had to face fear, anger, disappointment, and uncertainty all alone. Yet, I had never met any other person with whom I could identify with those same trademarks; until I became a medical assistant.
Personal Statement Many pairs of eyes stared at me, while I gave my first speech at the Sikh Temple of Riverside, on the Massacre of 1984 event that took place in Punjab, India. The speech was based upon a book that I read at my Sunday school while I was in high school, which described the 1984 genocide of Sikhs in India, by anti-Sikh mobs, most notable members of the government, in response to the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Thousands of people were displaced in the massacre and many mothers lost their sons and husbands in these riots. However, till this present day the Government of India has still not actively prosecuted and punished those responsible for the mass killings, and many mothers are still waiting for their sons to return after many years because they don’t if they are dead or missing. It is a great honor to have the chance to apply to be a member of NHS. Although my academic achievements are the reason why I have the opportunity to apply, my demonstration of the pillar of scholarship isn’t the only reason why I would be a good candidate for NHS. Because I exemplify all four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, character, and service, I believe that I would be a good candidate for NHS. Many activities that I have done in the past, and still do today, have given me opportunities to demonstrate my leadership skills.
our whole debate my team believed that urban sprawl should be regulated. On the other hand our opponents were against that fact. Overall both debate teams had strong logica facts and sources to back up what they had to say but i believed that we had a stronger argument. THere main arguments against urban sprawl being regulated was that crime rates are lower with urban sprawl and there are more amenities with urban sprawl. My team for urban sprawl regulations believed that without regulations there would be more pollution and we would lose land that is very valuable to our agriculture which wouldn't be good do to our increasing population.
The U.S. has the greatest health care system in the world. Problems exist in regards to access to care. These problems are due to misguided policy decision. The current system fails to produce the mix of physicians and leaves thousands of qualified medical graduates without a way to participate in the health care workforce eve with training. This issue has yet to be addressed by the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare).
Personal Statement Education is a major step in preparing me for my future career and beyond. The purpose of education in my life is to develop necessary skills, like critical thinking and working under pressure, and apply them to real life situations. Through receiving an education, I am given a chance to explore my interest in the sciences and the medical field. My academic goal is to learn as much as possible in order to become the best I can be at my career.
For as long as I can remember, I was drawn to medicine because I wanted to save lives, but that was before I agreed to end one. Weeks before graduating high school, I got a call that my dad had been placed on life support after suffering a heart attack during withdrawal. Being eighteen then, I legally had to make his medical decisions. I knew my dad wouldn’t want to live a life dependent solely on machines, but the thought of never seeing him again was unimaginable. I knew I lacked understanding of the situation, and with the high demand for life support equipment and hospital rooms during the pandemic, my decision was pressing.
My decision to pursue a career in the medical field all began when I was a little girl in Vietnam. My aunt brought me alone with her to a blind orphanage where she quotidian volunteered. When we arrived, I realized that this wasn’t just an institution for blind orphans but rather a shelter for all aspect of illness and disabilities. I saunter around and for the first time I became aware of how little others had and how fortunate I was. The volunteers tried their best to provide everyone’s exigency but the institution just didn’t have enough funds to provide enough for everyone.
I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.
Health and social care is something that I have always been passionate about. Because I have studied health and social care for the last four years I have regularly met a lot of the most vulnerable members of society through past work experiences. Through past placements I have worked with children who have special needs. This helped me develop ways of communicating with the children this could be through sign language. Because my Aunt is deaf I have taught myself basic sign language in order to communicate with her effectively.
