Trinity, tri meaning three and uni meaning one. Frank Mccourt uses the term “Holy trinity” to describe his father because he has three sides to him. Everyone has different sides to them and we all take hardship in their own ways. We all turn to something when we are in a crisis in our life to make us feel that we can survive. For Malachy Frank Mccourt’s father it was alcohol and that was one out of the three side of him. It’s extremely hard to see the good in people when the bad consumes them but Frank peaks through that and still sees the good that his father does. All throughout the book trauma after trauma occurs and you really see the escalation of his drinking because he spends every dime he makes at the pub, leaving the rest of his family to fend for themselves.
