Compare/Contrast Essay I read the books Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The books Uglies and Fahrenheit 451 have a lot in common and a lot different. Something they have in common are that they both take place in a dystopian society. Some things that are different are that in Uglies has a society that contains people that are happy while in Fahrenheit 451 the whole society is dystopian. There are many things similar in Uglies and Fahrenheit 451. Fahrenheit 451 and Uglies both take place in a dystopian society. Since they both are in a dystopian society they both have some misfortunes. They both had to do with some people dying in the book. In the book Uglies, David’s dad dies because David and Tally couldn’t get to him in time. In the book Uglies, there was a whole nother society that was considered a utopia. This Utopian Society was called New Pretty Town. Everyone in the society was happy, perfect and better than everyone else. In the book Fahrenheit 451 there was only one society and it was all a dystopia. Another thing that was different is the amount of deaths and people dying in the book. In the book Uglies, only one person dies, David’s dad. In the book Fahrenheit 451, everyone that lived in the society died except for the main character, Guy Montag. Finally, something that was different was that the in Uglies, the main character, Tally, had a sidekick. In Fahrenheit 451, the main character, Guy Montag didn’t have a sidekick. Tally had Shay and David to help her. Guy Montag had a few people to guide him like Faber, Beatty in the beginning, and Clarisse. At the end of the book Beatty was trying to make Montag stop reading, Clarisse died, and Montag didn’t listen to
