Risks are an everyday occurrence. The poem “Risks” and the second chapter “ A boy and a Man” of Banner in the Sky interact together. Both have to do with taking risks to achieve a goal. In A Boy and a Man James Ramsey Ullman, the author tells about people doing things that no one has ever done. This is an example of a Risk. Similarly, in the poem “Risk” Janet Rand explains how taking risks is an everyday thing and to succeed you need to risk at some points in life which is the overall theme of both pieces of literature. The poem Risks is full of examples of risk. On line 10 stanza two the line reads, ‘But risks must be taken, because the greatest risk in life is to risk nothing.’ This line is explaining why risk’s need to be taken in an everyday life. A young boy was walking by the crevasse and heard a voice, so the boy tried to helped Captain Winter. Rudi took some of his clothing off and threw it down to the man at the bottom of the crevasse. This is an example of risk from A Boy and a Man. This shows how a risk could even save a life. James Ramsey Ullman really gets the point across on how important risk is and how it is a part of an everyday life. Most people are scared to take risk but when someone risk’s at anything there is always a chance of a good turn out. A major example of risk is the men and women who serve our country. They risk their lives everyday for us. The last example of risk taking in the story was when the chapter ends and Captain Winter lets the reader know he plans on climbing the Citadel alone. This was never completed before. This was so risky because Captain WInter and many other people had never tried this before. I think this was an extremely terrible idea. The fact that no one has succeeded on this mountain is questionable, but since Captain Winter wants to go alone that’s an even worse
