This article is split into eight different sections. Each section is related to a different misconception about the play Hamlet. For example one of the misconceptions she list is about how Hamlet as a character is inconsistent. In this article she describes the character of Hamlet to be a “speaker and a thinker”. The author also tells us how his character seems to be a tad bit flawed in his role.
1) In Hamlet, pouring poison in a person’s ear had both a literal and symbolic significance. The literal meaning is that they are telling lies to people in order to deceive them. They are pouring poison or “poisonous” words into that person’s ear. The symbolic meaning of pouring poison in a person’s ear can be associated with the symbolic meaning of the snake in the story of Adam and Eve where the snake lures Eve in through lies. The characters in Hamlet were misled in the same way because they had poison poured into their ears.
“Pain is inevitable suffering is optional” -Buddha Pain and suffering are evident in William Shakespeare’s tragedy Hamlet, yet Hamlet experiences of pain transformed him…... Yet his suffering accumulates in his soliloquy in Act 3 scene 1, where he contemplates suicide. Through this metaphor, Shakespeare conveys his message of how humans can inflict their own suffering, which leads to their downfall. To convey this message, he utilizes rhetorical questions, paradoxes and metaphors of sleep.
In Hamlet's soliloquy in act 1 scene 2 of Hamlet by Shakespeare, the central idea is that life is not fair. This is first shown as the central idea when Hamlet says that he wants to commit suicide, but it is against his religion (lines 129-132). To him, life seems unfair because when he wants to do something, he is not allowed to. The central idea is further shown when Hamlet says that his father loved his mother so much "that he might not [allow] the winds of heaven [to] / visit her face too roughly" (lines 141-142), and his mother "would hand on him as if [an] increase of appetite had grown / by what it fed on" (lines 143-145), and his father dies (lines 148). Soon after, she remarries.
Acting out a play requires effort, hard work, and the feel as if the play is happening right then and is believable. Setting, costumes, gesture and facial experiences are amongst the many requirements to achieve a excellent play. In watching the different scenes of Hamlet act 3 scene four, it was evident that, although the same scene, were all done quite differently. Kenneth Branagh did an admirable job and portrayed Hamlet brilliantly all the while keeping the feel of “Shakespeare”. The Ethan Hawke version is more modern with guns and clothes, thus losing the feel of “Shakespeare”.

Disdain toward his mother and uncle arises within Hamlet because the marriage occurs so soon after his father's death along with the fact that the marriage bypasses Hamlet as the successor to the throne. Moreover, Hamlet is troubled further when the ghost of his father visits him and tells of murder and betrayal. Therefore, the concept of incongruity is fitting in describing Act I of Hamlet because the word encompasses the inharmonious and suspicious aura that surrounds the kingdom in the form of apparitions, familial betrayal, and the struggle for power.
Over Thinking and Its Effects On Society Everyone has flaws and flaws are great to have as it increases diversity, but sometimes flaws some flaws can lead to destruction. In the story of Macbeth the tragic flaw of unchecked ambition that created a monstrous Macbeth and multiple murders of innocent people, leading to Macbeth’s unruly power and greed. While in the story of Hamlet the tragic flaw of overthinking and Hamlet’s procrastination resulted in a domino effect of unnecessary deaths because he was unable to think quickly and follow through with his plan. The flaw of over thinking and inaction results in a world where no one can accomplish what needs to be done and our world can no longer progress at a faster rate.
The reader comes to develop new insights into the world around us, portraying a theme “ that things are not always as they seem.” The reader realises that beliefs and values may change when we are exposed to insightful and challenging material, both in life and in reading Hamlet. The deterioration in Hamlet's character and good spirit shows us that while acts such as revenge may entail negativity and danger, there may be benefits to individual people that we do not see. The importance of trust in the phenomenon of love is made clear to the reader, and we realise that trust is required in any sort of stable relationship. The reader is also informed about loyalty and we realise that loyalty can be a bad thing if shown in an excessive or inappropriate way.
Hamlet is William Shakespeare 's renowned tale of mystery, intrigue, and murder, centered on a young misguided prince who can only trust himself. Some may say that the actions of Prince Hamlet throughout the play are weak and fearful, displaying a tendency to procrastinate and showing an apathetic nature towards his family and peers. Others spin a tale of a noble young scholar, driven mad by the cold-blooded murder of his father by his uncle. In truth, I believe Hamlet is neither of these things. Hamlet is a sort of amalgamation of the two, a bundle of contradictions thrown together into one conflicting but very human mess of a character.

Therefore, no one was happy through “Hamlet” and it resulted in a tragedy. The character Hamlet played a big role in turning towards revenge and never would classify himself as being happy. Hamlet displays positive and negative behavior throughout the play. Hamlet exhibits strengths and weaknesses as well, although his weaknesses of over-thinking, bitterness, and his inability to accept the death of his father overshadow his strengths.

Some think that he is depressed because of his father’s death, and some think that his breakup with Ophelia has made him go mad. Though Hamlet does seem out of control at times, it is because he is keeping a secret about his father’s death. The average person does not usually deal with the death of their parent well, and knowing that it was intentional makes Hamlet even more emotionally unstable. From the beginning of the novel, Hamlet proves to be very melancholy, and upset with his life.
