One Unhealthy Problem What is obesity? Obesity is a condition of eating too much. When a person's excess fat weighs more than 20% higher than their recommended weight the person is obese. “Fast food in the U.S. has grown from a $6 billion-a-year industry in 1970 into a corporate juggernaut with more than $170 billion in annual revenues today. Two thirds of adults and one- fifth of children are dealing with obesity” (Fast Food). The United States of America is ranked as the most obese country. Mississippi is ranked as the most obese state in the United States. Obesity leads to health issues which could lead to people dying. If someone goes to a grocery store they will notice that healthy foods are more expensive than fat foods. Fat foods are high in calories, fat, sugar, and salts. Although humans body needs fat to survive, people still need to eat healthy foods to get the nutrients that the body needs. Fast foods states, “Gigantic multinational corporations like McDonald’s, Burger King and KFC make huge profits selling fast food at artificially-reduced prices” (Fast Foods).
Eating unhealthy is harmful for the body (Kahan). Eating unhealthy foods leads to heart disease and diabetes. Heart disease is when a person has high blood pressure which leads to heart attacks. Cortisol effects the fat storage and weight would be gained. When you eat all the fat foods while you are stressed you are actually putting more stress on your body.
