The Unites States use a presidential system for their government. It is democratic meaning there are fair and free elections and a guarantee of human rights. As a federalist system, the Unites States contains subdivisions with a central government that handles national and foreign issues. One of these subdivisions would be the state government which controls law enforcement and education. The U.S. mainly uses single member districts, where a candidate must win the plurality. However, two states, Maine and Nebraska, currently use proportional representation.
