Introduction

Christianity Encountering World Religions by Terry C. Muck and Frances S. Adeney explains the practice of evangelism and the forms it has had over the centuries. It gives various examples of evangelism used by apostles, missionaries, and priests and what we can draw from those methods today. As we live in a society that is ever growing in multiculturalism and for those whose hearts are aimed for intercultural work, we need to be building up ways in which we can reach unbelievers. Although the book touches on many styles of evangelism this report will be covering only two styles. These two styles in effectively reaching people groups with different backgrounds are Universality and Effectiveness.

Universality

Universality is an evangelistic strategy we can learn from Paul the Apostle. This approach to evangelism is based solely around the notion that the Gospel is for everyone. He made it known that it didn't matter if you were Jew or Gentile, slave or free, the Jesus story was for you. Paul used this to effectively reach the Gentile and Jews of his time. Because of this, the approach needed to be focused on showing that it can be compatible with the Chinese way of life.
