John Locke was a seventieth-century English philosopher and physician. He is best known as the "Father of Classical Liberalism." From the time, he was alive, until now he is counted amongst the greatest and most influential of Enlightenment thinkers. John Locke was perhaps the first philosopher thinker to teach his followers the arts of self-thinking and the government role toward its citizen. Through his teaching, he wanted his followers to be more aware of their self-consciousness rather than their emotion. He advocated that the government best interest should be the people wellbeing. As a young child, he was more drawn towards the works of present day rationalists than he was keen on concentrating on the endorsed educational programs. Alongside with philosophy, Locke was anxious about the study of medicine. In fact, he developed a great interest in the medical field, he indeed became a professional physician. As a political scholar, he contributed massively to traditional Republicans and liberal theorist, which are reflected in the United States Declaration of Independence. (Woolhouse, 81)
John Locke was born on 29 August 1632, in Wrington, Somerset, England, to Puritan folks. His father also called John Locke and his mother’s name was Agnes Keene. His father was a nation legal counselor and representative who serve in the bureau of “Justice of the Peace” in the city of Chew Magna. What is Liberalism? The philosophy of individual rights and limited government. According to John Locke philosophy of Liberalism, you and I are intelligent enough to make our own choice that includes freedom of religion. Locke rejected the divine kingship right which gave the monarch absolute power over everything. Locke also rejected the Catholicism doctrine that gave the Catholic Church the absolute right over individuals. Locke advocated people are free whether or not to believe in God, it is their choice. Remembered around that time anyone, whoever refused to obey the Catholic Church doctrine is subject to severe punishment including death. Locke also advocated the right to knowledge should be available for all. Access to knowledge was a luxury in that era. In addition, he advocated the riches should pay their fair share to the society and the government 's best interest are for the people. “Government has no other end, but the preservation of property.” (qtd. Locke) The right to freedom and the pursuit of happiness are essential to a person 's life. The government mission is not to infringe on them instead the government must ensure these fundaments rights are
