I recently read the book called “Unwind” by Neal Shusterman. It is a science fiction novel that takes place in a dystopian future, after the 2nd Civil War. The war was fought over reproductive rights, and the resolution of it would never be able to be undone. Parents were allowed to have their children in between ages thirteen and eighteen “unwound”. That meant that all of their organs would be transplanted to different donors. The main characters are Connor, Risa, and Lev. They are all chosen to be unwound, but for different reasons. Connor isn’t good enough for his parents, Risa is a burden to the state, and Lev, a tithe, was born and raised to be unwound for religious purposes. The book starts when Connor finds his unwind papers in his parents room. When Connor found them, he decided to run away. When he escaped, he met Risa and Lev, who joined Connor in his run to freedom. Connor and Risa reunited with “the new Lev”, who showed up at the harvest center a few days before them. Unfortunately after a few weeks at the harvest camp Roland was unwound, and Connor was onto the same fate. Luckily, Lev saved Connor, but at a price. To save Connor he had to blow up the harvest camp facility. Risa and Connor both badly got hurt from the explosion. The outcome was Risa getting paralyzed from the waist down. Oh, and remember how I told you that Roland got unwound? Well, Connor lost his arm in the explosion, but received Roland's arm instead… Creepy. After everything got settled with the explosion Connor became the new leader of the graveyard, Risa went with Connor, and Lev went to a facility for blowing up the Happy Jack’s Harvest Camp. To find out what happens next, you will have to wait and read the next book in the unwind series,
