As a junior in high school, I was inducted into the National Honor Society for doing exceptionally well in my academic endeavors and actively participating in volunteer events. My contributions through this organization have made a significant impact on both my personal development and my community’s support services. My undergraduate studies, volunteer service, and employment have prepared me for study and future employment in criminal justice policy and administration. While studying criminology and criminal justice (CCJS) at the University of Maryland, College Park, I had the option of completing three additional CCJS courses that were not required for my major. I chose to take classes about drugs, race, and human trafficking because I believed they were critical criminal justice issues.
Ways in which I depict service include volunteering at the Brian Adams Benefit to help raise money for a cancer patient whose family is struggling, helping clean up the Shawnee United Methodist Church property by picking up trash and helping with landscaping, ringing the bell to raise money for the Salvation Army, packing and delivering food at the West Ohio Food Bank for families in need, along with helping prepare food for needy families who come and stay at the church. I feel it is important to try to help as much of the community as possible, which is why I also volunteer at the Humane Society of Allen County. Showing a respect for not only my own community, but communities around my own, is something I pride myself on. Throughout my three years of being in St. Thomas Aquinas High School, I have participated in a few different acts of service. For every year in my high school career, I did service at my old elementary and middle school, All Saints Catholic School. During Presidents’ Day weekend, I provided help at their Church’s carnival for four days--Thursday to Sunday. All Saints Catholic School’s mission statement states “The Mission of All Saints Catholic School is to provide an atmosphere rich in the Catholic faith where each child is challenged to grow in a safe environment.
To enhance my experience I would like to work with veterans, adult homeless, and the mentally ill. My objective is to be admitted into the Master of Science degree program with an option in Rehabilitation Counseling, where I can grow and take on new challenges. Ultimately, I would like to assume further educational and gain work experience that would allow me to work more effectively with people with disabilities. Most importantly, I would like to work for an agency where I can build a career in counseling and possibly management. I am driven to be the best at what I do.

Upon completion of my undergraduate studies and receiving my bachelors in biology from Ohio State University, I will shift focus to excelling in dental school. Pending that Ohio State accepts my application to dental school, I plan to earn a D.D.S. from Ohio State. My experiences volunteering at the VFW, Single Marine Program, and Vineyard Community Church have not only taught me how to better serve, but also the level of coordination and planning involved in volunteer organizations.
My family has always encouraged me to become great and a better person, and volunteering really fits into my life. As I

This theory indicates that there are several needs people are struggling to fulfill. These needs are often illustrated as hierarchical levels within a pyramid and the most basic level of needs must be met before the individual start to achieve higher level of needs (Huitt, 2007). From the bottom to the top these five levels of needs are: Physiological Needs (such as food, clothing, shelter), Safety Needs (such as the need to be protected, security and freedom from fear), Love and Belonging Needs (feeling a sense of acceptance, and establishing relationships with others), Esteem Needs (to feel respected, a sense of contribution or value), Self-Actualization Needs (seeking personal growth, the realization of one’s full potential). Spencer (2006) has suggested that volunteers may find their ‘love and belong needs’, ‘esteem needs’ and ‘self-actualization needs’ are likely to be met from volunteering in an organization. Because volunteering provides opportunity for individuals to create bonds with fellow volunteers and organizations, as well as it expands their social networks which leads to more interaction, engagement, and trust with the people that you volunteer with.
Volunteering is a superb example of not being greedy or stingy, but helping others doesn 't just help the person receiving the deed, volunteering helps the person who is giving also. Volunteering is a prominent way to show that you are a kind and high spirited person. Being opposite of what is
1. In the summer of 2017, I volunteered once a week for 6-8 weeks with an organization called The First Tee, which works with youth to teach them life skills via the game of golf. Starting as young as 5-6 years old, the participants learn to play golf and develop their skills in the sport, but a large aspect of the organization’s mission is to teach children life skills such as integrity, honesty, and responsibility. Through golf they learn to be courteous to those around them and to always act with integrity as well.
