Much like my last essay, the medium I’m going to be discussing is the marketing side of media, this is because I find it’s interesting to see how different organisations market themselves. This is why my topic of discussion is How do organisations utilise social media. MY specific question that I’ll be researching is: How do Domino’s Pizza (UK) use their twitter page to draw in customers?
Domino’s Pizza is an American Pizza company that operates in the UK and other countries also. Throughout the years as social media develops, Dominos makes it clear that they’re coming along for the ride as they try their best to utilise every aspect that Twitter has to give. The Dominos Pizza UK twitter page has over 240,000 followers which makes it clear that a lot of people are seeing what they get up to on their account. …show more content…

One of the things they do is do competitions in conjunction with other brands and sponsors e.g. X-Factor. This means that if X-Factor also retweets their tweet, they’re getting a lot more traffic to their tweets which is a bonus for them! Some of their competitions also require you to use a smart phone or tablet so they’re really trying to stay in the Social Media loop.
Another theme would be their hashtags. I noticed that on the dominos page, they use a lot of hashtags to get their followers to interact with them. An example of a hashtag that caught my eye was their “#DominosPizzaChallenge” which requires you to send in a picture of your dominos pizza in order to get a retweet from them. This is a really smart move because in order to get involved with this hashtag, you have to buy a dominos pizza, so for everyone getting involved in what they think is a harmless hashtag, Dominos reap the benefits of
