On May 14, 2017 I interviewed Pouneh Sanaee about what it means to be American to her. She’s an immigrant that moved here two years ago from Iran. she wants to be a pharmacist, start to play basketball basketball like she used to in High School, and be able to help her family. The reason that she moved here was because she is Baha'i and the government in Iran says that it’s crime to be Bahai. The government used to jail her family just because of what they believed in which is really sad.
Unit 4 Seminar The unit seminar is a lecture type in which the instructors at Kaplan University (KU) have to go over certain topics, subjects, or assignment. The lecture that the instructors have to go over most of the time go in detail how what the students should do and what these instructors are expected from these students. These seminars are important, and this is the moment the students can ask a live question and receives a clarification either to an assignment or a group project. To encourage the students to attend or to participate in these seminars, KU sometimes gives a 5 or 10 points for attendance. In addition, any student who misses the seminar, there is another arrangement that is made which is very good for this student not only
By teaching someone else to let go of their fears and not be afraid to fail, I will make a great difference in their life. Ebrahim Agheli Sturdivant 4 Kim-E 3 Humanities 10 29 March 2024 Strategies of the Civil Rights Movement In the 1860s, some laws enforced racial segregation and denied Black Americans equal rights in different facets of life, including education, housing, employment, and voting. Due to these unjust practices, there was a need for the Civil Rights Movement to fight against them. During the 19th century, Black Americans encountered failures of the Reconstruction Era and Jim Crow laws, while Asians experienced prejudice in society, mainly related to immigration and labor stereotypes which caused the Civil Rights Movement. Those failures and struggles caused both communities to face racial injustices. Despite this, Asian novelist Uyematsu and black activist Malcolm X both interfered in the Civil Rights Movement in an attempt to rectify racial injustices and discrimination.
Warrensburg Missouri, being a college town, is full of many opportunities such as joining Greek life, getting internships, and most impotently getting a college degree. Being the first to attend college in my family, I have been self-motivated to attend class’s everyday on a daily bases and even build time into my schedule to study for quizzes and exams. For the past four months, I have been attending the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg. Therefore, I have learned the highs and lows of being a college student at the university. Being a college student at UCM in Warrensburg has many lows.
Being able to connect with the community and with my peers will be a valuable and unforgettable experience. Not only will I be able to learn from the community, but from my fellow peers, medical students, high school students, and other undergraduates as well. Getting to me mentored by people who have done what I want to do will be enriching, it’ll be an experience that ill cherish forever. Creating long lasting friendships with people who have similar interest.
The first year seminars interests me the most because I would be able to take a class on something I was never able to in high school, out of the current courses offered I am most interested in Racial
Throughout this past week, thanks to Alabama Action, I have discovered the true meaning of a “servant’s heart” and discovered that when like-minded people get together, we can make a huge impact on the community. Servitude is something that is incredibly close to my heart and this week was the perfect introduction to all that the UA Honors College has to offer to help find ways to leave my mark. Coming into this week, we were just a large group of kids from every corner of the country – joined only by our desire to serve and our love for the University of Alabama. But, in just a few short days, we became a community of thinkers, leaders, and dreamers who formed bonds that will last throughout these next few years and beyond.
This program has given me the skills I need to adapt to new problems that I would not have anticipated the day before and to have a strong work ethic. Through this group project and the numerous assignments I've had throughout college, I've improved my time-management abilities and learned how to set priorities more effectively. Not only from the coursework but also from the connections to Christ made in
While reading this book, I come away with three major thoughts. First, Stokes provides a clear understanding of naturalism. Being able to understand naturalism, removes all confusion that may occur if I were to talk to a person about my beliefs. During this semester the topics of naturalism, skepticism, and multiverse theory, were often very difficult to follow. However, it is clear in How to Be an Atheist, and lends itself to apologetics, giving clear reason of argument.
Considered to be the last canonical Gospel of the New Testament, the Gospel According to John has very little parallelism to the Synoptic Gospels. It fosters a unique theme of Christ’s divinity as the eternal Word, who became physical flesh. While John along with the Synoptic Gospels depicts Jesus as the Messiah, he takes it a step further by focusing on Jesus’ deity. According to R.Wayne Stacy, “the Gospels were all clear that the Incarnate meant Jesus was the God. However, John emphasized the former almost to the exclusion of the latter.”
Being Latino, this course has brought up some points that I have related to their values has changed the ways I think about things and believe that everyone deserves a chance and that our race shouldn’t define us. It is hard that we live in a conservative city that has isolated us in this bubble. Keep them striving and break this stereotype that everyone puts them into. This brought an eye opening of my awareness toward racism. The difficulty that they have to go overcome based on their race.
I have become more aware of my values and beliefs while taking into consideration other individuals values, beliefs, goals and their needs. I hope that this course will push me forward for the career I want to pursue in the future. I would like to work in the field of social work and hope to specify in working with children with learning disabilities. I understand some of the situations I may be faced with may be very challenging however this will give me more motivation to help individuals overcome challenging situations. I feel that university will further my passion for working with vulnerable
This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
