According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention there has been 23 measles outbreak in 2014. This included a large outbreak with 383 cases reported. The once nonexistent disease, measles, are on the rise again all thanks to people who refused to get vaccines for various reasons. Small babies who cannot receive vaccines are contracting diseases because people around them cannot protect them. Their immunity is not as strong as grownups. People believe the many rumors are spread around about how vaccines cause autism that are not true. Vaccines should be mandatory because preventable diseases should be prevented, people who cannot be vaccinated could be protected and protects the future generations.

High vaccination rates have reduced transmission of diseases because the disease are not able to be spread to other living organisms. “Awareness of disease and completing prevention and treatment courses remain essential components for reducing infectious disease transmission” (Healthypeople.gov 1) These other factors have helped reduce the transmission of disease as stated in the quote by healthypeople.gov. Moreover, vaccination can help protect vulnerable children. Some younger children cannot get vaccinated because of their age and frail body. These children are susceptible to viruses that can harm them. Additionally, vaccination can protect people who are not able to get vaccines. Some people don’t have a facility near them or do not know about the vaccination. Overall, vaccinations can protect the entire community. If some people do not vaccinated it leaves an opening for the disease to break through but if they most people in the community immunized themselves to the disease the disease cannot spread and infect vulnerable people.
