The Colonial army lead by George Washington set up camp in Valley Forge to keep an eye on the British. It is winter and the colonial army is ill-prepared. I think that you should leave Valley Forge. One source of information is on the sick and death rate at Valley Forge (Doc A). About 25% of the people who went to Valley Forge died of diseases.
Quitting Valley Forge would be the best decision to do at the time of the winter storm. The first reason to believe leaving would be smart is the fact that there was an extraordinary amount of illness and deaths.(Document A) Fifty percent of the soldiers staying at Valley Forge caught sickness and more than an estimate of twenty-five hundred soldiers died. The camp was not safe in any way besides protection from The Lobster Backs but still you would have to guard the camp in case of intruders. The second possibility to why you might leave the winter camp was the convincing journal entry made by Dr. Albigence Waldo.(Document C) He claimed the bad hygiene was a huge disappointment in the camp, soldiers rarely got to shower, change clothes
Valley Forge, The Winter Camp of Death and Illness If I were a soldier back in the 1700 and had duties in Valley Forge, I would quit and leave. Valley Forge was a winter camp that soldiers had to stay in. I have many evidences that I would quit Valley Forge. One evidence that I would quit is from Document A.
If I was a soldier at Valley Forge, I would quit. In “Estimates of Illness and Deaths at Valley Forge” it showed the estimated deaths and illnesses reported in Valley Forge. (Document A) According to document A, in February about 50% of the soldiers got sick. Also, about 1800 to 2500 soldiers died.
4th Hour Charley Poole District Performance Event Jimmy Valentine was a man that changed his life from robbing banks and being in jail to successfully owning a shoe store. Jimmy valentine is a famous, or rather infamous bank robber that just got out of jail. He found a new town that he would like to stay in. He also goes by the new name of Ralph Spencer. Jimmy Valentine was truly dedicated to living a moral life because he changed his name, he was about to give away his robbery gear, and he gave up crime to start a shoe company.
Valley Forge, Leave it There were no beds just straw on the mud floor. Cold was one problem; smoke was another. I would leave Valley Forge during the winter due to several reasons. Document A states, “Death estimates due to illnesses during encampment December-June: 1,800-2,500.” This shows that many people died during the Winter at Valley Forge.
Therefore, I choose to stay at Valley Forge, for there is a chance for me to not die of sickness because of the medical care, there is also patriotism, and people are willing to fight for our freedom. The documents A and C prove that only 14% died of sickness. there were about 12,000 of us to start with, and only about 1,800- 2500 died from December to June. Therefore, that leaves just about 9,500 of us left. However, with all the people that abandoned the Continental Army leaves us with just about 8,000 of us.
Valley Forge was a winter camp 18 miles away from Philadelphia, where George Washington took his troops during 1777 and 1778. The British army is comfortable in Philadelphia, while Valley Forge has harsh conditions with the cold weather and the lack of supplies. I will not reenlist when my 9-month enlistment is over. I will not reenlist for these reasons, diseases, lack supplies, and cold weather and smoky air.
In the winter, Washington took his troops to Valley Forge, which was 18 miles from Philadelphia. At this time, Valley Forge was a difficult place to live for the Patriots. It was a struggle but if I were a Patriot in Valley Forge fighting for Washington’s Army, I wouldn’t quit. I won’t quit for three big reasons; yes I know there were a lot of sick soldiers but not as much as dying soldiers, another thing is the conditions were horrible, but there were many brave soldiers who stuck with it, and stayed with Washington, lastly I do not want to be a “summer soldier” because freedom is valuable so it is worth fighting for.
First, I wouldn 't stay at Valley Forge because of death. Only the craziest people would have the guts to stay and just staying is a huge risk. From December to June, 1800 to 2500 people died so I think that says enough about Valley Forge. (Doc A)
Jimmy Valentine is a deflated balloon. The balloon should always be inflated with good actions, but bad actions can cause the balloon to deflate. Once the balloon does not have any more air, it is hard to fulfill with air again. The balloon represents the difference between an honest life and a dishonest life. Because Jimmy Valentine was truly dedicated to living a moral life, Jimmy Valentine quit robbing banks, started making a living, and he was about to marry Annabel Adams.
First off, Dr. Albigence Waldo, who wrote a diary at Valley Forge states, "Poor food – hard lodging – Cold Weather – fatigue – Nasty Clothes – nasty Cookery..." This quote shows that not only did the soldiers have bad and small amounts of food, but also horribly built shelters, trapping smoke in making it impossible to breathe. Additionally, he states, "Why are we sent here to starve and Freeze.... There comes a Soldier, his bare feet are seen thro’ his worn out Shoes," This quote shows that the living conditions were so bad at Valley Forge that people didn't even have clothes and shoes to wear in the middle of winter. I'm not sure about you

During the proposal of the Equal Rights Amendment in 1972, Schlafly founded a group with more proactive approach called “Stop ERA” with one goal in mind, to defeat the ratification of ERA. After the success of the “Stop ERA” campaign, Phyllis Schlafly founded the eagle forum, a pro family group dedicated to “opposing all encroachments against American sovereignty through…feminist goals” (Schlafly). Althoug the primary interaction that eagle forum has had with the womens movement was the ERA, they also are incessantly combating
Plus the conditions are bad/awful. Though I am going to re-enlist, because Washington needs healthy men, the people need my help, and I want my freedom. I’m also going to stay due to my country needing me. Plus I will die helping my country instead of dying for nothing. It is important for every soldier at Valley Forge to be asked whether to stay or leave because General Washington needs to know if you will stand with him and fight for what 's right.
Cold was one problem, smoke was another. Hopefully, the soldiers will have the courage to make it through this devastating time. Lack of food, living conditions, and horrid climate are some reasons of why a soldier would quit Valley Forge. One reason a soldier would quit Valley Forge is the lack of food.
