First of all, Edward is a vampire just like Dracula. In the book vampires are fangless and humane. Vampires in myths are monsters, nothing like the ones in the book. Just like vampires, werewolves are portrayed completely wrong which makes me dislike the Twilight saga. The werewolves in twilight get instant muscles, not one of them look like they do not take steroids. There is not a way supernatural or not, that a boy can turn into a full wolf in less than five seconds.

In Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the bloodsucking aspect of vampirism both disgusts and attracts the characters. All instances of bloodsucking are eerily sexy, or have elements of seduction incorporated with feelings of immoral lust and sexual repression. One example of this is from Chapter 3 when Johnathan says “There was a deliberate voluptuousness which was both thrilling and repulsive, and as she arched her neck she actually licked her lips like an animal.” (3.32) The conventional gender roles are reversed in the quote with the female vampire as the active aggressor and Johnathan as the passive receiver of the kiss.

These characters seem to be normal forever young teens with bizarre feeding habits. In the same time Dracula is presented with some super powers as hypnosis, telepathy, shape shifting (when he changed into a wolf) and super strength. In the opposite to the ‘Twilight’ vamps Dracula has more then call of blood problems, he is sensitive to garlic, holy water, stakes and crucifixes.
