Our text explains that the source of Mission is not of man, rather it is from God and is “rooted in the very nature of God” (Van Rheenen 14). This concept is explained throughout the complete Bible. In the Old Testament God’s love is shown to man by seeking restoration between himself and fallen man. Of course, the New Testament displays his love by sending Jesus into the world. By contrast, “missions “ is the “plans of committed believers to accomplish the mission of God” (Van Rheenen 20). They are the same in that we are to proclaim the message of the Kingdom of God, Jesus as Savior, and establish a church just like Jesus and the disciples. However Jesus, as God, became the message.
