Introduction The “Monster” side of our chosen Character Victor Frankenstein is quite complex as he showcases many different characteristics and repetitive behavior patterns correlating to “Narcissism.” Victor is the exact definition of a Narcissist, as he is obsessed with being first at everything and being good at it. Which eventually leads to his obsession with science and the renewal of life. But what exactly triggered his newfound addiction? Victor’s privileged and high economic life as a child gave Victor the idea that his parents would always be there and have his back. But this wasn’t the case as he faced many struggles in life while attending Ingolstadt University to study natural philosophy. This experiment consisted of 3 factors: a corpse, electricity, and passion. The result was a creature with a horrifying and ugly face that scared Victor away leaving his creation abandoned and seeking revenge. “He had abandoned me, and in the bitterness of my heart I cursed him”( Shelley 1818 pg ?). As the creator of the creature, it is Victor’s responsibility to take care of his creation despite its flaws. But his narcissistic tendencies got the best of him leading to a “monster” in the making. Victor knew the consequences of leaving the creature behind but he did it anyway allowing the creature to ruin Victor’s life. As his creation roamed freely it took revenge killing many and leaving its owner with regret, guilt, and remorse for his past actions and decisions that were caused by his wrongdoings. But Victor also feels a lack and sense of empathy towards others as he seems to only care about himself as he made a decision that would impact him
