After having to deal with an emotionally unstable monstrous creation, of his own invention, Victor Frankenstein is given a choice. To create another “monster” so that his creation will be happy, or to potentially destroy the human race. Given his Creatures current history, Victor Frankenstein is less than motivated to do anything nice for him. Just to list a few things the Creature has done: Murdering a small child, getting an innocent person thrown into jail and killing others just because of his anger and hatred for one person, that person being his creator, Victor Frankenstein. This made the creature feel unwanted and after years of seclusion and disapproving actions by all who saw him, it was only a matter of time until the Creature grew smart enough to ask Victor to make him a mate. When the Creature asked this of him, he was very specific in his terms. If Victor had created a mate for him, the Creature would have left to a far away land. It is also a possibility that the Creature would begin to lead a somewhat harmless life. If a mate had been created, some of Victor’s friends would have lived. The human side of the Creature has the same feelings as anyone else would have. The creature wants to fill the void of loneliness, but all he has to fill it with is revenge and anger towards all others that are actually accepted, unlike him. If the Creature hadn’t of been abandoned in the first place, then the pain of rejection and exile wouldn’t be as cruel as they seem to the Creature at this point. Due to Victor’s lack of nurture, seeing as the creature is much like a child in some aspects, and the Creature’s constant exposure to human cruelty, that is what the Creature has become. Victor did not think of any consequences that may have popped up in the making of the Creature in the first place. In creating such a thing, it is pretty obvious that you would need to take responsibility for such a thing. If Victor would have created a mate, then his problems would go away and the Creature would finally be happy. Even though Victor can’t completely trust that the Creature will change his ways, I believe he should at least give him the opportunity to feel that companionship and love that he has never felt and so desperately
