Intro.
In this essay I will be talking about how the Vikings lived and if they were brutal raiders.
Paragraph 1.
Most Viking farmers grew enough crops and got enough meat from animals to feed everyone who lived on the farm even for the animal. They even traded and fished part of the time. Farms were usually small, unless the owner was wealthy. While some farms were remote, they were mostly all small villages. (www.historyonthenet.com)
The ancient Norse people did make lovely rings, bracelets, necklaces, and other types of jewellery out of such expensive metals as gold and silver. Early in the history of the Vikings jewellery was very simple, but later in the Viking era they created beautiful intricate pieces. (http://ancient-jewelry-history.com/) …show more content…

Eddaic poetry is one where the author is always anonymous, the metre is simple -, fornyroislag, malahattr or ljooahattr, the word order is usually pretty straight forward and kennings are used sparingly and opaque ones are rare. The other is Skaldic poetry where the author is usually known, the meter is decorative – usually drottkvaett or a variation there of, the syntax is decorative too with sentences commonly interwoven, kennings are used all the time. Paragraph 2.
People always thought the Vikings were violent raiders and it’s true that they were because they killed to get the treasures from other villages and to colonise they would have had to kill to get the land as well. They would raid coastal village’s monasteries and even citys intruding on the long ships from the sea, people started building forts near the sea to try and stop these raids – sometimes these worked but a lot of the time they got through anyway. We know that from all of the vilent looking historical artefacts tht have been found over time.
