The characteristic qualities of a legend that this story possesses are things like a vision and glorifying the hero in some way .In the beginning of the story It starts with a vision or prophecy telling Arthur that if he were to battle Mordred he would smote him unless he could make a treaty and this prophecy is characteristic of most legends.Later in the story he almost makes the treaty but in a twist of fate an adder ruins the deal and brings forth a most doleful day for our hero who is shown to be very noble and never faltered,"...and did full nobly,as a noble king should;never at any time did he weaken." in this statement like any other legend it glorifies the hero and makes him very noble even in times of great peril.
