I created a visual representation of the poem A Song of Hope by Kathy Walker. This poem was written in the 1960s, just before the referendum allowing Aboriginals to vote. The subject of the poem is about struggle and injustice that the aboriginal people suffered for centuries due to racism.

This is shown in the poem in the lines, ‘When none defame us, No restriction tame us, Nor colour shame us, Nor sneer dismay.' Here, the poet uses the technique of rhyming to create the idea of reoccurring discrimination. Another line in the poem, ‘So long we waited, Bound and frustrated, Till hate be hated, And caste deposed.’ displays the struggle they faced for generations.
