This investigation will focus on the question: ‘To what extent does the movie “Sacco and Vanzetti” (by Giuliano Montaldo, 1971) portray what happened in the trial?’ The investigation focuses on the case of the two men (Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti) and the events that eventually led to their executions, which took place in 1927. It also looks at the racism towards immigrants in the United States in the 1920s; additionally it will look at the aftermath of the executions. This investigation will also look at how the political beliefs of the two men may have affected the outcome of the trial. To analyze how far the movie represents the events during the trial of Sacco and Vanzetti, I will look at the incidents that take place in the movie, and compare them to the events
Occupations labeled as a profession tend to be specialized and require a depth of knowledge and understanding of the field. Criminals can also form a profession in a specific field such as murder, thievery, or bank robbery. As a professional thief, certain jobs can be specialized such as a professional pick pocket or conman. One such job is a professional boxman. A boxman is a thieve that specializes in cracking open safes through either torching, peeling, blowing, or punching (Chambliss & King, 2004, p. 14) the safe.
The next one hundred pages of The Book Thief takes the reader through the rest of part two, part three and through most of part four. Some interesting events occur, which carry out the plot. In addition, a few new characters are introduced. This section of The Book Thief starts off with a celebration of Hitler’s birthday.

It is not determined by how they look, but by what what they do, and they come in all shapes and sizes. Heroes are willing to help others by acting quickly, often times just being ordinary people rising above their situation to do extraordinary things, without the expectation of fame and glory. Vittorio’s loss of innocence occurs as he is exposed to the evil within the society he lives in. As Vittorio faces isolation from those around him he experiences a loss of innocence as he realizes that people can be cruel. Vittorio becomes aware of how easily friends and family can give up on one another. Vitto slowly realizes the evil within the town’s people, which prevents them from truly getting along and truly being a community. He also see’s how his family is being shunned which shows him the wrongful act Christina has committed “his hands gesturing in our direction, but at the last instinct he checked the gesture and suddenly clasped his hands together as if closing us out” (Ricci 84)

The film Bicycle Thieves (1949) directed by Vittorio De Sica, is an Italian Neo-Realistic film set in post-war Italy. The film follows Antonio Ricci and his son Bruno on a quest to retrieve his stolen bike in an attempt to remove himself and his family from the cycle of poverty. Bicycle Thieves (1949) discusses themes of struggle and desperation causing one to sacrifice their morality and become the evil they initially fought. De Sica expresses such themes to the viewer through the culture of poverty and the continuous pain that poverty is capable of inflicting. De Sica also employs simplistic narrative, dramatic sound, and mise-en-scene that highlights the depressing nature of poverty.
Did you know that Pavel Friedman, the author of the book The Butterfly wrote “A total of around 15,000 children under the age of fifteen passed through [the concentration camp] Terezin. Of these, around 100 came back”. This is a completely, absolutely horrid statistic, and yet it is true. Speculate about being a child back in Nazi Germany. Not all of these kids were Jews.
Neorealism had taken over Italian cinema and the films were becoming known outside of the county. One film showing heavy doses of neorealism is Bicycle Thieves. This film came out a couple years after the ending of World War II and really opened up the eyes of many people showing how difficult Italy was doing. The movie, Bicycle Thieves, shows the heavy impact neorealism had on not only Italian cinema, but also international cinema as well.
This creates a contrast with the darker and lighter parts of the scene, and creates the subject of the scene to be hidden in the shadows. This lighting technique is perfect for a gangster film such as the Godfather. Francis Ford Coppola’s has made apt use of lighting in this scene. In this scene, almost all the frames are low lit, especially the scenes where Don Corleone’s eyes are darkened.
The Book Thief revolves around Hans and Rosa Hubermann, Rudy Steiner, Max Vandenburg, and the infamous ten-year-old book thief, Liesel Meminger. The setting is Himmel Street, Germany during World War II and the narrator is Death, who busily runs to and fro taking souls and stumbles upon the Book Thief’s very own handwritten book. Though Death might not be the narrator someone would think fit to be point of view for the book, he manages to catch and describe the beauty and destruction of war whilst telling the stories of the people living on Himmel Street. Along with Markus Zusak’s captivating writing, he will tell an unforgettable story set during the Holocaust from the views of a Jew on the run and four Germans while a war wages on. Whereas other authors would prefer writing from the victim’s perspective during the war, Markus Zusak gives insight on the Germans that had no choice but to grudgingly obey throughout Hitler’s rule.
The concept of justice varies depending on the country, their cultures, and on individual people. Justice and mercy are important themes in The Merchant of Venice and are supported by quotes in the play; it is clearly seen that these two virtues cannot be achieved simultaneously. Justice calls for “an eye for an eye” and mercy asks for forgiveness and compassion towards the one who did wrong. Using examples from The Merchant of Venice, it can clearly be seen that these two human virtues can not be pursued at the same time. There are various definitions as to what justice truly is.
