This is the case in “Vaclav and Lena” by Hayley Tanner, where the main characters Vaclav and Lena face many obstacles, but use their imaginations to help them deal with the struggles they face in reality. This relates to the quote “Imagination is the one weapon in the in the war against reality” by Jules de Gautier, because Vaclav and Lena use their imaginations and dreams of better things to come, to ignore the problems they currently face. Vaclav and Lena use their imaginations and dreams of the future to forget about their issues momentarily, and to be able to postpone dealing with them.
I Rise is a very good book due to the fact that it's relatable. In the book, the main character is Ayo. Ayo's mother is the founder of See Us, which is very similar to BLM. BLM is a group for black people to get justice for those who were wronged by the law. And the impact they had on the United States.
Throughout Maus, Vladek is telling his son Artie about how he survived the Holocaust. He explained to Artie that before the war, life was good for him and his family. He tells him everything about his experience during the war as well, from the relationship he had with his family and Anja, to his friendships with both gentiles and Jews, to things he might of found or kept throughout the war. However now, a few decades after the war, Vladek’s lifestyle has changed drastically from during the war, and even from before the war. Vladek’s friendships, relationships, and everyday life has changed due to the Holocaust and WWII.
Most of Vladek Spiegelman has many (strange) personality traits. He can be headstrong, stingy, short-tempered and even borderline racist at times. As the reader reads through Maus I and II, it is learned that most of these things about him stem from his experience being a Holocaust survivor and living through World War II. Before the war, he didn 't exhibit these traits. With his first wife Anja, he is undoubtedly kind, compassionate, and wealthy.
In Maus, Art Spiegelman records his personal accounts of trying to delve into his father’s traumatic past. His father, Vladek, is a Jew from Poland who survived persecution during World War II. Art wants to create a graphic novel about what his father went through during the Holocaust, so he reconnects with Vladek in order to do so. Due to the horrifying things that the Jews went through he has trouble opening up completely about all the things that happened to him. But after Art gets together with his father many times, he is finally able to understand the past legacy of the Spiegelman family.
In Maus, Art Spiegelman tasks himself with sharing the most accurate retelling of his father’s life story as well as that of him and his father. To achieve a most accurate depiction of his father as well as that of him and his father’s relationship throughout the novel, Spiegelman includes the character Mala, but why? While Mala does not seem essential in telling the history of Art’s father, Vladek, she gives insight to who he is in the present. Married to Vladek after the suicide of his first wife, Anja, but having known the him prior to the war and having survived the holocaust, Mala also serves to impress upon to readers of Maus that no matter how stereotypical Vladek’s traits are, the traits are unshared by others of similar religion and background. What is a friend? A common response to this question seems to be someone who accepts another for who they are. Another less used response to the same question is someone who leave another better than they once were. These two half definitions of friendship come to gather to explain that friend is someone who takes another how they already are and leaves that better than their previous state. True friendship often adds loyalty to ones character resulting in acts of courage.

Before Art’s work came into prominence, comics had not been truly acknowledged as art. His work would practically evolve graphic novels into a recognized form of literature. Art Spiegelman was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1948 to Vladek and Anja Spiegelman, but his family immigrated to Rego Park in Queens, New York three years later.
Firstly ,Elena Vilkas. A selfless, hardworking, fearless mother who installed strength and determination to those around her who may not have survived without. Also known for her unselfishness which she exhibited in many situations of the novel. For example,when Elena gave up her bread ration to a starving boy who was already dead but had his hand outstretched as if he was asking for food. The incredible thing about it was that she herself was also very sick and that bit of food could’ve ended up being very critical between life or death.
