Humanities Effect Although many may question the place humans and animals place on earth, the effect of who is on the top, is difficult to explain. There were two specific essays that put thought into words, about humanity and animals. The themes were about how humans have affected and dealt with nature, they gave a quick glance of the author’s position on the subject. One author made small claims about lighting pollution, while the other emphasizes the idea about humans and nature having a difficult time getting along. Their stories question the readers’ thoughts logically, to go far beyond by questioning one’s own claims and have an impact on the reader. Humans have a distinct place where they are supposed to be, the question is have humans pushed too far by taking advantage of the earth? In the essay, “Our Vanishing Night” by Verlyn Klinkenborg she emphasizes the ideas about human lighting and light pollution affecting the natural world. She mentions how in history there wasn’t such a thing called light pollution since technology wasn’t updated to what it is now. The gas and rayed lighting have affected the way humans can see through darkness. The idea is that there isn’t any darkness anymore and there isn’t any natural light getting through. She describes the cities as if humans have ruined lighting by not exploiting themselves to the stars or natural light in the darkness. Although many may argue with the idea that this may be true, not everyone is open to nature and so feel comfortable where they are now.
